She also holds a BS in geology from the University of Florida.

Kate Gasner

My Account

As vice president of the Water Loss Consulting group, Kate Gasner works on the full spectrum of water loss projects and is fluent in water audit preparation, component analysis of water losses, meter testing, and flow and pressure data analysis. As coauthor of two major Water Research Foundation projects, Kate supported the development of the leakage component analysis model and designed Level 1 validation standards of care for water audit review.

Kevin Burgers

Kevin Burgers is responsible for completing field work and supporting several types of nonrevenue water management projects. Kevin has 10 years of experience testing and analyzing water distribution systems with an emphasis on production meter accuracy testing. He’s a licensed professional engineer and holds a BS in civil engineering from the University of Washington.

Kim Manago

Kim Manago helps water agencies estimate, understand, and optimize their water loss through data analysis and improvement, field activities, and water loss control strategy development. She works on all aspects of water loss projects, but she specializes in regional program development and agencies managing multiple water systems. She joined E Source through the Water Systems Optimization (WSO) acquisition in 2021. Prior to joining WSO, Kim worked with a variety of water utilities while conducting research for her PhD and working for a private civil consulting firm in Hawaii.

Madeline E. Gorchels

Madeline E. Gorchels assists in analysis and management of water loss projects with water utilities. Before joining E Source through its acquisition of Water Systems Optimization in 2021, Madeline worked in stormwater management at local governments and nonprofits. She holds a master of environmental science and management degree from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and a BA in biological sciences from Wellesley College.

Maher Lugo

My Account

Maher Lugo is a consultant, water audit validator, geographic information system (GIS) specialist, and project manager. He has more than 17 years of experience working with water utilities. Prior to joining E Source through its acquisition of Water Systems Optimization in 2021, Maher served as technical adviser with the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority where he developed strategies for reducing water losses with the intention of increasing revenue and reducing operating expenses.

Reinhard Sturm

Reinhard Sturm is the senior vice president of Water Loss Consulting. Prior to E Source acquiring Water Systems Optimization (WSO) in 2021, he was the CEO and president of WSO. Reinhard has worked on water loss control projects throughout the world, and for the past 18 years he has been involved in some of the most impactful water loss reduction projects in the US. Reinhard is the coauthor of the McGraw Hill textbook Water Loss Control and served as principal investigator on five Water Resource Foundation research studies on water loss control.

Kris Williams

As a director with the Water Loss Consulting group, Kris Williams leads teams to help clients better manage water losses. In addition, Kris has led the development of software, data processing, and modeling tools to efficiently process client data and deliver actionable insights. Kris studied environmental economics at Middlebury College, and seeking a balance between economic, social, and environmental outcomes still guides his work.

Andy Read

My Account

Andy Read edits reports and presentations at E Source. Through one-on-one coaching, he helps writers grow their skills and write in E Source style. He’s focused on making messages clear and using writing to educate other professionals. Before joining E Source, Andy was an acquisitions editor for a bicycling book publisher and a production editor in scholarly publishing. He holds a BS in technical and scientific communication from James Madison University and an MS in technical communication from Colorado State University.

Dannah Moore

Dannah Moore joined the E Source Editorial team as a staff writer in the summer of 2022. She works closely with E Source and industry experts to deliver innovative information and help utilities make sustainable decisions. Before coming to E Source, Dannah worked in the hospitality industry and earned a BA in English from the University of Missouri–Columbia. She is a member of the National Association of Science Writers.
