Developing a business case for prepay

Making waves in the world of prepay. In this exchange, we’ll discuss how to develop a sophisticated business case for prepay billing that will ultimately aid utilities when designing a new prepay program.
April 24, 2023 | 9:00 am-10:00 am EDT

Prepay billing has proven itself to be a valuable payment option when managing arrears, improving customer satisfaction, and improving customer knowledge of energy usage. To help prove the value of prepay, Chris Germano of Itron and Jeff Weiser of PayGo have been developing a business case, primarily on a calculator tool that can give an estimate of the ROI. In this second working session, we’ll focus on the cost of payment arrangements compared to prepay.

This is an E Source exchange. It’s an online conversation where you can share ideas on specific topics with other utility professionals. In this exchange, we’ll bring together utility peers to discuss developing a business case for prepay billing, focusing primarily on refining a calculator that can aid in the design of a prepay program.

This exchange will cover:

  • Prepay as a tool for arrear management
  • How prepay stacks up to traditional payment arrangements
  • Further discussion on contact center impacts
