I see a lot of “smart” devices on the market, such as smart power strips, smart outlets, and others. Are they all compatible with smart meters? Can they work together in a home area network environment?

Do residential customers need an incentive to participate in direct load control programs? How much incentive should the utility provide to encourage customers to enroll or to keep customers involved with cycling programs?
