Director, Commercial, Industrial & Institutional Services
Full time, regular (#300-12)

In the past few years, energy and climate issues have become increasingly important to business executives. They’re now expected to respond convincingly to investors, regulators, employees, and customers on such topics, and rising energy prices, energy security, and global warming have become serious concerns. Business as usual is no longer just about cost reductions and better energy procurement. Companies must also make decisions about energy efficiency, green technologies, renewable energy, sustainability, climate change, and carbon policies.

Electric and gas utilities as well as the large energy-consuming companies they serve are asking for help in figuring out what to do and when to do it. In response, E Source is expanding its information services directed at large commercial, industrial, and institutional (CI&I) customers.

We're looking for a strong director to lead our CI&I Services, which currently include the Managed Accounts Service (MAS), the Corporate Energy Managers' Consortium (CEMC), the Energy Market Advisory Service, Facility Metrics (a facility benchmarking service), and our Carbon Management Services. Collectively these services provide information and resources concerning account-management strategies; energy-efficiency technologies, metrics and tools; energy management; sustainability; and greenhouse gas reduction strategies. We also offer other products and services aimed at large businesses and the utility staff members who manage those accounts, and we expect the new CI&I director to help us continue to grow this part of our business.

The CI&I director, who will report to the executive vice president of E Source Member Services, must be a dynamic leader who can help us enable utilities and large businesses to meet their energy and environmental goals. This individual will be responsible for delivering overall value to E Source members and driving renewals of member subscriptions. The position will require traveling, speaking at conferences and before utility staff, developing research agendas, and responding to Member Inquiries that fall into the CI&I area.

At present, two employees (the service managers for CEMC and our Carbon Management Services) will report to the CI&I director. The job is based in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. For more than 20 years, E Source has been helping utilities and large energy users with critical problems involving energy efficiency, utility customer satisfaction, program design, marketing, customer management, and sustainability. We are the leading source for independent, unbiased, analysis of retail energy markets, services, and technologies.

Leader, Technology Assessment Service; Efficiency Services
Full time, regular (#300-09)

Utilities are spending billions of dollars on demand-side management (DSM) initiatives to help their customers lower their energy bills and to meet regulatory and emerging carbon requirements. Knowing how end-use technologies* work (and don’t work) is key in determining what to include in those programs, as well as important information to assist end users in their equipment-purchasing decisions. The successful candidate will join us in helping utilities determine which technologies they should offer or recommend to their customers.

Our Member Services group is looking for a service line leader with excellent people skills and experience as a public speaker and writer. The service leader has a highly interdisciplinary role in our business—one in which skills in project management, marketing, product development, customer retention, and even research and analysis come into play. With 65 people on staff, E Source is a growing company with a prime focus on delivering energy-efficiency research. We offer a broad line of energy information and advisory services to the energy industry, targeting utilities, government organizations, and large end users across North America.

This person will be responsible for member services and communication, customer account management, retention of business, product management including profit and loss responsibility, and ensuring customer satisfaction with E Source and the TAS subscriptions.

You will also help E Source develop innovative new offerings for this market segment. You’ll work closely with our Research department, translating the customer needs you identify into research projects. You’ll have ample opportunity for travel as you go out to meet our customers in person and to attend and make presentations at national conferences in this field.
