Expanding Your Reach with C&I Behavioral Program Options

Do you want your commercial and industrial (C&I) customers to be more engaged with your demand-side management (DSM) offerings? Look no further than behavior-change programs, which offer utilities some unique ways to propagate efficiency norms and spread better operations and savings information to key C&I customers. This report examines these program categories: Building Operator Certification; subsidized energy manager programs; strategic energy management and energy teams; employee awareness programs; and energy challenges for businesses, government, and schools. Each behavior-change program category includes a summary of the mechanism for savings (instruction, feedback, and norms), some examples to help illustrate that program type in action, and an explanation of how it can increase utility engagement with C&I customers.
