A breakthrough temperature-based technique for determining and adjusting refrigerant charge levels in air conditioners has the potential to reduce the costs of maintaining equipment efficiency. The new method, developed by researchers at Purdue University, streamlines field diagnostics and can be used on existing systems in the field as well as in embedded diagnostics packages in new systems.
