Estimating Markets for Energy Information Services (EIS)

For this study, we surveyed energy decision-makers at midsize and large commercial, industrial, and institutional organizations across the U.S. and Canada, asking questions about four energy information services: utility usage cost analysis service (utility accounting), online load profiles without analysis, online load profiles with analysis, and remote monitoring and control services. We also briefly explored bill-payment services. Users were asked about their experience with a given service, whereas non-users were asked about their expectations and interest in purchasing that service. The results will help energy providers more accurately assess the current market for and interest in these services among non-users.
