Most of the data required to use the calculator is straightforward. Estimate the annual operating hours based on facility records; base fixture power on manufacturers' data; use the local cost of electricity; and use suppliers' data for the cost of the personal dimming upgrade. Costs typically run about $125 per fixture but vary widely. The average dimming level will vary, depending on individual circumstances. Measurements in the field to date have shown lighting levels ranging from 62 to 85 percent (that is, lamps dimmed by 15 to 38 percent on average). Note that the calculator does not account for productivity increases or savings from reductions in peak demand.
